GeoServer is an open-source java-based software server designed specifically for that purpose in line with Open GeoSpatial Consortium (OGC) standards for sharing spatial data such as Web Mapping, Feature, and Coverage Services (WMS, WFS, WCS) to share and/or edit your data to generate maps.
